Nexus Resort Sabah Open Dart Championship gets nod from Malaysia Dart Federation

The Malaysia Dart Federation has come forward to give its full support for the first Nexus Resort Karambunai Sabah Open Dart Championship 2008 starting on 28th November at the resort’s Grand Ballroom.

Dharam Singh, President of Malaysia Dart Federation, hopes the much anticipated inaugural event will see good representation from Sabah. “In recent years there has been a strong representation in the game of darts from Sabah with many events being organized around the state,” he said. “I must take this opportunity to congratulate the organizing committee ably led jointly by Datuk Robin Loh, the Chief Executive Officer of Karambunai Corp Berhad and Mr Peter Sprenger, the Group General Manager, in making this event a part of Malaysia’s  darting calendar.”

He added that the game of darts has come a long way in Malaysia, and internationally we have achieved some remarkable results. The national team has just returned from New Zealand from the Asia Pacific Cup where two senior players, Selbaraju Subramaniam and T. Anandan managed to win the gold medal in the doubles event. Both will be taking part in the Nexus Sabah Open Dart Championship and their presence promises exciting moments during the event.

Teams from all over Malaysia have started sending in their registration forms to confirm their participation in the event. According to the Event Advisor, Datuk Robin Loh, the Sarawak Dart Association has so far confirmed at least 7 teams for the event. “The competition is definitely heating up with many teams keeping their strategies close to their chest. I’m sure there will be a few surprises on the day itself,” he remarked.

The main sponsor for the event is Carlsberg Malaysia. A total of RM26,000 in cash prizes will be up for grabs in the event. The winner in the Team Event will walk away with the top cash prize of RM10,000, while the Men’s and Ladies’ Singles will each take home RM1,500 and RM1,200 respectively.
