Baked specially for CM – “The Legendary Ship of Karambunai”!

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. March 2010 ... Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai’s Kitchen team, lead by Chef Volkmar Ertel, Executive Chef has once again created yet another interesting piece of art especially for the Sabah Chief Minister, Y.A.B. Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman, in conjunction with Y.A.B Datuk’s birthday celebration.

“It took us three days to complete the overall decoration on a 10 kg fruity cake.” said Ertel. The embellished piece features an 80cm-tall sailing ship made entirely of chocolate. “This cake represents the legend of Karambunai where a royal prince and princess from the sultanate of Brunei were sailing up the western coast of Borneo. The place where they settled in is called Karambunai today, because this was where the ship sunk (karam) from Brunei (bunai).” – added Ertel.

The cake was presented to Y.A.B. Datuk by the hotel’s Executive Assistant Manager, Mr. Albert Jan Vasseur and his hotel team during a courtesy visit to Wisma Innoprise earlier today.
