Nexus Resort Karambunai brings home the awards
27 November 2007

Nexus Resort Karambunai emerged winner in the Excellence in Services for 3, 4 and 5 Star Hotel category at the recent Sabah Tourism Awards 2007. The award was presented by Datuk Masidi Manjun, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah at the annual gala dinner event organized by Sabah Tourism Board in recognition of the achievements of organisations and individuals in the state’s tourism industry.

The award speaks volumes of the resort’s commitment to excellence in providing exemplary service at all levels of operation to ensure its guests are well taken care of during their stay. As recipient of this prestigious award, Nexus Resort has proven that commitment and perseverance are fundamental in differentiating itself in this intensely competitive industry. With 485 rooms including 6 luxury villas, a championship 18-hole golf course, spa, Lagoon Park and eight food and beverage outlets, this endorsement from the state tourism board is a morale boost to its more than 600 staff to continuously improve and excel to surpass the expectations of its guests.

This recognition comes just days after Nexus Resort was voted Top 5 in two categories and Top 10 in one category at the HAPA (Hospitality Asia Platinum Award) 2007-2008 held in Kuala Lumpur on 22 November. The two Top 5 awards were for Best MICE Hotel of the Year and Best Golf Resort of the Year while the Top 10 award was for Best Luxury Hotel of the Year. This is the first time Nexus Resort has participated in this event which has entered its 6th year since it was introduced to applaud achievements of tourism players in Malaysia. All Top 5 and Top 10 recipients of this year’s HAPA will now be eligible to be selected to participate in next year’s regional awards which will be introduced for the first time and which will include participation from neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.

Nexus Resort’s reputation as a premier resort destination is well established not only among overseas guests but also expatriates living in Malaysia. In the October issue of Expat Lifestyle magazine, Nexus Resort was selected as one of its top 5 recipients for the Excellence Award in the Best Beach Resort and Best Beach categories in their annual Best of Malaysia Awards. Expat Lifestyle has a readership of more than 100,000 affluent and well traveled expatriates and locals in Malaysia. Votes were calculated since January this year and Nexus is the only resort from Sabah to make it to the top list in both categories.
