Nexus Resort Karambunai, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo

The final scene of a soon-to-be-released drama was filmed on location at Nexus Resort Karambunai recently. The drama entitled “Sweet Age of Midsummer” is being produced by the Eastern Shine Production film company of Taiwan and stars Huang Yu Jung, Hsu Jen Chieh, Chang Shu Wei and Chen Chin Chieh.

Influenced by the popularity of Korean and Japanese idol series, Taiwan has also managed to develop its own domestic idol series which have catapulted young idols such as F4, a Taiwanese boyband, to superstardom in the very popular series Meteor Garden

“Sweet Age of Midsummer”, which stars Huang Yu Jung of 183 Club fame and Chen Chin Chieh in the lead roles, is a romantic drama set in Taiwan and Sabah. Filming was done at various locations in and around the city with key locations at Nexus Resort being the Presidential Villa and its garden, poolside and beach. Ten members of the entertainment media and three from the travel media accompanied the film crew to interview the stars on location and to write a series of articles on the drama as well as Sabah in general. The entire crew and media personnel stayed at Nexus Resort for the duration of the filming from 7 – 11 May 2008.

Sabah’s unique cultural heritage was given prominence during the film shoot when the two main stars, Hung Yu Jung and Chen Chin Chieh, wore traditional Kadazandusun attire in one of the scenes with the beautiful manicured gardens and beachfront of Nexus Resort in the background.
