Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Cake Presentation

Head of State Tun Haji Ahmadshah bin Abdullah, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Hajah Dayang Masuyah, was presented with an array of decorated cakes symbolisizing the meaning of Hari Raya and made of ingredients used in traditional raya goodies at the Istana on October 11, 2007. Mr Albert Jan Vasseur, Executive Assistant Manager of Nexus Resort Karambunai, together with the culinary team led by Executive Chef Junious Dickerson impressed Tun Haji Ahmadshah with a majestic confectionary creation of a date-filled cake base topped with pandan, coconut and kuih lapis layers balanced on icing-coated pillars. The crowning glory that perfected the green and burnt-orange creation were the golden domes at the very top that added a touch of elegant simplicity and clarity to the design.

The entire process from idea conception to the final presentation took the team 3 days. The use and combination of ingredients were well-thought out to highlight significant aspects of food usually served during the fasting month of Ramadhan as well as during the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration itself.
