12th Sabah Hospitality Fiesta 2009

Nexus celebrates successful Hospitality Fiesta outing

KOTA KINABALU, 08 November 2009 – It was a night of celebration at the close of the 12th Sabah Hospitality Fiesta 2009 for Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai as it claimed a total of 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. The medals came from Hot Cooking, Modern Chinese Cuisine, Fruit & Vegetable Carvings, Buffet Platters, Pastry Showpiece and Wedding Cake categories amongst others.

The two-day fiesta, jointly organized by the Malaysian Association of Hotels Sabah/ Labuan Chapter (MAH) and Asian Tourism International College (ATIC) was held at the City Mall on 7th and 8th November 2009 which culminated in the prize presentation at a Gala Dinner where Datuk Masidi Manjun, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, officiated the closing and congratulated all the winners of this year’s event.

Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai has been participating in the fiesta for the last few years and has consistently produced outstanding results.  Mr Michael J Strobl and Mr Volkmar Ertel, Director of Food & Beverage and Executive Chef respectively stated their admiration to their local staff on such a successful performance.  Also present during the competition and prize presentation dinner was the Group General Manager, Mr Peter F Sprenger.

In addition, Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai received the Challenge Trophy for being the champion in the hotel/ resort category.
