Nexus Resort Karambunai receives ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award

Nexus Resort Karambunai has added yet another accolade to its list of awards - ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award.

The award, together with a certification from the ASEAN Tourism Standard, is in appreciation of the resort’s continuous effort to conserve the environment by adopting energy conservation measures that leads towards environmental protection such as: environmental policy and actions for hotel operations, use of Green or environmentally-friendly products, collaboration with community and local organizations in activities to protect the environment, human resource development, solid waste management, energy and water efficiency, air quality management, noise pollution control, wastewater treatment and toxic/chemical substance disposal management.

Nexus Resort, one of five other hotels in Malaysia and the only representative from Sabah, was presented this prestigious award at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2008 held in Bangkok, Thailand on 22 January 2008. The resort’s General Manager, Mr Peter Sprenger, accepted the award at the event which was also attended by Malaysia’s Tourism Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

The ASEAN Green Hotel Award was presented to 81 recipients from Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Brunei.
